VIDEO ADVERTISMENT
One of the ideas for my project is an advert that is similar to the Ultimate Ears Wonder boom Ad which uses a combination of logos and pathos methods in their commercial as they show a group f people having fun then as they advert goes on it also shows hard facts of the product such as The product is drop proof and waterproof and that is used through Bluetooth connection and that I might use the snob effect to create the sense of an elite group use this product and try separate them form society.
I choose this idea do to the ability to create a decent advert using a combination of pathos and logos advertising techniques and that can help sell the product to try and make a group out of the product
Another idea I've had is that the will take a logos approach kind of like the iPhone commercials with close up shots of the product and the features of the speaker listed at different points during the video
Treatment
Working title, genre and target demographic
My project is the wonder boom speaker and its going to be an 30 second advert and the target demographic is around 15 to 30 as the speaker is mostly used for party's and events and that it provides sound via a Bluetooth connection and a 10 hour battery life for multiple use.
The basics of the advert is at the start we see a group of teenagers playing music having fun dancing and then there's a shot of people looking into the party looking left out and sad then it cuts back to the party where their having fun and enjoying the music and that's how the pathos fits in to show that buying the speaker you will be joining the party or a group witch is the addition of the snob appeal and then it ends with the speaker being turned off and then cuts to the ultimate ears logo and the product picture below.
The visual elements
Lighting : I will be using natural lighting during the video and use some fill lights to cover the shadows.
Camera angles and movements:
Editing: Company logo and score
Setting : My house and garden
Props: The speaker and table
Costume: Bright colourful clothes for the party but dark clothes and hoodies for the outside society
Graphics: I will be using the company's logo and typography to show the features of the speaker
Audio elements
Soundtrack: same as the music
Effects:
Music: Upbeat Positive royalty free music
Rationale
I chose this idea because I have the product and that it is a challenge that can be done considering that this ad that has the approach of a combination of Logos and Pathos and uses the snob effect to help persuade the audience to buy the product because it is shown to separate the people with this speaker.
Primary and Secondary Research
The research I have done to create this idea is that i have looked into previous ads made for ultimate ears and used features from their ad to create my idea such as the fact they also took the approach on the combination of Pathos and Logos to present their product and that I have also looked at the response the videos have been getting also the research into the Target audience has helped into the creation of my video ad as the music I have chosen will have an upbeat tone because music is major part of a young persons life it gets them energized and excited or it can make them sad and disappointed the reason I'm going for a happy upbeat song is to subconsciously make my target audience feel excited for my speaker and would make them contemplating on buying the product.
Constraints and Contingency
The problems i may encounter while shooting this video are that the natural lighting may not be as good as i need it to be and the way I would combat this is by using a lighting kit or wait for the light to be better.
Requirements and Resources
The crew will consist of just me and that the technical equipment I will be using are the main cameras and legs and maybe a DSLR for some decent still shots of the product that I could use in my promotional material and graphics and the location I will be using is my house and this also takes out the limitation of permission and that I will be using my house due to speakers can be used anywhere but people mainly use them in their house or garden.
Proposed schedule
I hopefully want to start shooting as soon as possible so possibly between 6th and the 9th and start work on the editing and hopefully finish on the Monday 12th then I will work on my 3 print ads during the last week before the deadline.
Print advertisement ideas
For this assignment I have design and create three different forms of print based ads and I have chosen these 3 Poster, Billboard and a Bus side ad these 3 ads must show of the product by using one of the 3 advertisement techniques (Pathos, Ethos and logos) for my ads I'm choosing 2 Ethos and Logos as I have already researched the facts needed for a Logos approach and that Ethos approach can be related to the research for my Logos ad.
Good Work in outlining your idea and linking it to the advertising techniques. What I want you to do to enhance this is also link your idea to your advert research. State why you have chosen to uses teenagers, for example. Why do you plan to use a certain types of music? is it because your seen it in similar adverts? or has it been something that you've identified that your TA like through focus groups or target audience?
